Grandma-style pizza dough
This pizza dough always comes out fantastic, trust us. You can do lots of flavour combinations with this dough, to make your favourite pizza at home, as good as your favourite pizza place.
Ingredients – For 2 Pizza Bases
- 500g strong flour
- 5g salt
- 10g fresh yeast
- 325ml lukewarm water
Method
Dissolve the yeast in the water. Combine flour and salt in a large bowl and gradually add the yeast mixture, mixing well until you obtain a dough.
Place the pizza dough on a lightly floured work surface and knead for about 10 minutes. Cover with cling film and leave to rest in a warm place for at least 30 minutes until the dough has doubled in size.
Preheat the oven to 230 degrees Celsius. Take the pizza dough, work it with your hands slightly, and then divide it into two pieces.
Cover each with a cloth and leave to rest in a warm place for a further 40/50 minutes.
Sprinkle some flour onto a clean work surface and with your fingers spread each piece of dough into a roughly round shape with a border, make the dough as thin as you can but be careful not to tear it.
Sprinkle some flour onto 2 round flat baking trays and place the pizza bases on them.
Place any toppings you like on both pizzas, starting from the tomato sauce for the base, and then place them into the hot oven and bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the crust is golden and crispy.
When ready, remove the pizzas from the oven…and enjoy!
